The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association’s Annual Global Convention is set to descend on St. Petersburg this week.
One of the world’s leading conventions for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) tourism professionals, the IGLTA chose St. Pete in part because it is home to the largest gay pride event in Florida.
Beginning next week, it seems the theme is all about LGBT Tourism! Starting on May 3rd, the global LGBT tourism industry will be descending upon St. Petersburg, FL for the IGLTA Convention, an incredible event bringing LGBT tourism professionals together from all around the world. Then, on May 16th, as part of LGBT Week NYC, Community Marketing & Insights, in partnership with IGLTA, is bringing us the 3rd Annual Symposium on LGBT Tourism & Hospitality. The IGLTA Foundation recently selected the recipients for its fifth annual Building Bridges Scholarships, who will receive an all-expenses-paid trip and conference registration for the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association’s Annual Global Convention in St. Petersburg, Florida, 4-6 May.
tOpening Night at The Dali Museum & Mahaffey Theate
The evening networking begins at The Dali Museum, the largest collection of the surrealist painter's works outside of his native Spain. Attendees will have a chance to view the collection and enjoy cocktails and light hors d'oeuvres before moving to the neighboring Mahaffey Theater, the city's waterfront performing arts venue, for more food and drinks plus live music.

Join us for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres alongside the astonishing collection of world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly’s unique glasswork. The Chihuly Collection is the first installation of his art in a building designed specifically for that purpose. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Foundation's efforts to inspire the next generation of LGBTQ travel professionals through education, research and leadership development.
The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association has formed an expanded partnership with Camara de Comercio Gay Lesbica Argentina (CCGLAR), the LGBT chamber of commerce for Argentina.
CCGLAR will serve as the association’s representative throughout the country, providing Spanish-language membership support and helping to grow IGLTA’s presence in this key South American market for LGBT travelers. IGLTA has volunteer ambassadors in 22 countries and regions, and has been engaged with CCGLAR’s founders in the annual Gnetwork360 conference in Buenos Aires for many years.
IGLTA Receives Travel Award from London LGBT Magazine
The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) received the Winq Travel Award, in association with United Airlines, this week at Rosewood London. The UK-based magazine’s second annual event included nine awards: activism, culture, business, media, music, sport, travel, Man of the Year and an additional honor presented by the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
