Philadelphia-based independent e-tailer, Philadelphia Home Art Garden (thePHAGshop.com), known simply as PHAG, isn’t going to let COVID-19 drag them down!
Following a PHenomenal response to a limited test release of their RuPaul-inspired collectible rubber duck, RuPond, at DragCon New York last fall, PHAG ordered up a full production run with plans to grow that success in 2020. But, with both DragCon LA & New York canceled due to the pandemic, PHounder Jason Crook had to get creative. Now, the ONLY way to get the Limited Edition pink RuPond duck designed exclusively for the in-person DragCon events will be as a backer of their new Kickstarter campaign- launching in the next few weeks! Product fulfillment will occur in late summer (once the campaign closes). The Kickstarter campaign will offer four contribution levels that get you the rarer pink version of the collectible (5 of every 6 ducks are red). However, those levels will be limited to a total of only 155 backers- so collectors and serious RuPaul’s Drag Race fans will want to sign up to be notified when the campaign launches and be prepared to act fast!
About the ducks:
A full product back-story will be provided in the Kickstarter campaign, but here are some details about the line. PHAG began designing and developing a series of Limited Edition PHAG drag collectible rubber ducks in 2018 with two drag icons in mind: Dr. Frank-N-Furter from The Rocky Horror Picture Show & RuPaul, the original Supermodel of the world- now of mainstream Drag Race fame!
The PHAG drag ducks are designed and sculpted in the USA and manufactured overseas using a trusted partner to ensure a high quality, responsible product that is phthalate, BPA, and lead free. Best of all, these premium rubber ducks not only look PHabulous, but they also actually float! In short, they’re the best duckin’ collectibles in the market.
The first duck in the series, Dr. Frank-N-Feather, a tongue-in-cheek parody duck inspired by the main character from the 1975 cult classic film, hatched in October, 2018. RuPond, the second duck in the series, took almost a full year to design, sculpt, and test to ensure the hair-heavy duck would meet standards for both form and function. PHAG’s PHounder notes, “Down to the humorous sponsor logo patches on her race suit for “Good Queer” tires and “Quacker State” oil- we had to get the details right!” RuPond was hatched naked- the rest is drag!
